Still have questions? Want to hear back from our team?

Fill out our super easy form by clicking the button below - our friendly team is here to walk you through the process.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the process for booking an orchestra?

1. First, browse and choose an orchestra that matches your preferences and budget; we have orchestras ranging from 12 to 30 players and prices starting from $199.

2. Next, you’ll need to fill out a quick form by clicking the “Book Now” button. Here, we’ll ask for you to tell us a bit about your piece of music, how far along in your composition you are, whether you’re able to write the scores yourself or need our help and which month you’d ideally like to record. We recommend that you aim to choose a recording date at least 1 month into the future, since the scoring and preparation process does require some time.

Once you’ve submitted the form, one of our executive producers will be in touch with you within 3 business days.

3. Our executive producer will provide you with specific recording date options and recommend a length to book based on the length and complexity of your piece. They will also provide you with additional options like score arrangement, mixing/mastering and 4K video recordings of the session.

4. Now that we have your track information and booking confirmation, you can simply sit back and wait for your recording date to come around! If you’ve requested scoring, we’ll get to work and ensure everything is ready well ahead of your session. We request that you leave enough time

5. A few days before your session we will send you two links: one for audio, and another for video. The audio link opens in your browser, and it’s a direct feed from the recording desk, in high-quality. The video link is a Zoom conference call, where you can see the orchestra and communicate directly with the producer, conductor and musicians. We request you click the links a few minutes before the session so that you’re ready to begin on time.

How much do the recording sessions cost?

Each orchestra and their prices are different. You can find the starting prices for each orchestra on the website, and if you click on the orchestra profiles you’ll be able to find more information - including rough guidelines for how much recording sessions cost depending on the length of your music.

More specifically, our most affordable option is the Budapest Strings, which start at €199 for recording 1 minute of music, in a 12-minute session length. Our most expensive offering is the London Strings, starting at $599, which includes some of the best players in the industry, and the Prague Orchestra at the same rate for a 30-piece orchestra.

Once you’ve filled out the initial booking form, we’ll get back to you with a more specific quote, based on the orchestra you’ve chosen and the length and complexity of your piece.

What does the cost of the session include?

The orchestral recording session cost includes:

  1. Score revision by our in-house conductor. A detailed review of your score will be completed before the recording. Changes to the score may be requested;
  2. Organizing and printing;
  3. Full dedication of the studio time and its staff. This includes engineers, producers and general staff;
  4. Musicians;
  5. Conductor;
  6. Recording: Pro Tools multi-track recording with multiple microphones - Decca Tree, wide ambiances, and close mics.
  7. Live-streaming: you will be able to join the recording in real-time HQ audio and video conferencing;
  8. Delivery: the entire Pro Tools session, with all the recorded takes in WAV format;
  9. Files handling and overall management by our production team;

The orchestral recording session cost does not include:

  1. Scoring, i.e. putting your music into music sheets/ scores from scratch, for the musicians and conductor to play your music. This service is available at cost.
  2. Editing, mixing or mastering. These services are also available at cost.
Your prices are so affordable, are the musicians being paid fairly?

Yes. Everyone we work with, from musicians and engineers to producers and orchestras, are being paid fairly for their work. It’s our shared session model that makes prices affordable. Everyone gets paid at their usual rate, but you only pay for what you need.

I need help writing my scores. Do you have a transcription service? What about orchestration for my music?

Yes, our arrangers do detailed transcriptions so you can record your music with live orchestras. The cost of this service will vary depending on the instrumentation and length of the piece. We’ll ask for these details in the initial booking form, so that we can move forward and also let you know how much that would cost.

Do the musicians prepare the session beforehand? Is rehearsal time included?

Our shared recording sessions are sight-reading sessions, and we only work with musicians and orchestras that are skilled in this type of service. If your music is written and scored well, as well as being idiomatic, our orchestras will be able to play them and still allow for time to repeat certain passages.

How is time used in an orchestral session?

If you decide to remotely attend the session, you’ll be able to direct it as you please. Depending on the complexity of your piece, the conductor or producer may suggest recording full takes or breaking it into smaller parts, in order to obtain better and faster results. Our producers will make sure that your entire piece is recorded. Our proposed session lengths are estimates, so if your session length does not match the time required to adequately record your piece, we have a number of provisions in place, as outlined in Point 21 our Terms of Use.

Is it possible to attend the session in person? Can I conduct the orchestra recording my piece?

We encourage composers to attend their sessions as it’s a unique and amazing experience! And we also allow experienced conductors to conduct their sessions.

For both attending and conducting your sessions, we require a minimum of a 1-hour-long session. Please let us know in advance if you plan to attend, so that we can plan your visit accordingly.

Is it possible to communicate with someone during the session?

Yes. You can provide live feedback on the session and let us know of any adjustments you wish to make. For this to happen, we host a Zoom conference call, where you can see the orchestra and communicate directly with the producer, conductor and musicians.

What is the tuning of the orchestras and what sample rate do you record at?

We record at 48kHz/24bit. Please make sure that your DAW's session is set at the correct sample rate for playback. Let us know if you need any help with this.

Can the orchestra record with a click track or other pre-recorded audio tracks?

Yes, each musician has a pair of headphones to play over click tracks or pre-recorded audio tracks (tuned to A=440Hz). You can send these with your scores. We can also record with no click if that works best for your music.

What files do I receive? Will you send separate audio files from the recording session?

We send all the audio files, as well as the Pro Tools session folder, reviewed by our in-house engineer to make sure everything looks perfect with all the takes we did of your piece. We send the files in WAV format recorded at 48KHz/24bit.

If you prefer, you can order our post-production service, and we will edit, mix and master your track to be ready for all sorts of distribution (CD, digital, etc). We send you three final versions: WAV at 48k/24bit; WAV at 44k/16bit; and MP3 at 320kbps. We’ll share these booking links with you once you’ve completed the initial booking form.

What is the delivery time for files after the session is recorded?

After the recording session we run a quality control on every session file. Only after then will we send the audio files and Pro Tools session to your email. This will be no later than 3 business days after the recording session (considering local bank holidays).

Do I keep audio rights ownership of my piece? Are the recordings free for commercial audio usage? What about synchronization to film?

Yes, you keep ownership of all your rights. Both copyright and recording rights are yours perpetually and worldwide. All Musiversal recordings are 100% buyouts.

You have permission to use the recordings delivered by Musiversal for commercial purposes without paying additional fees or royalties.

The recordings delivered by musiversal are also cleared for syncing with images except for the recording sessions which are held in the UK territory, which are cleared for audio commercial release only. If you wish to use the music you recorded in London for image-syncing please get in touch with us at

What’s the cancellation policy?

For orchestral bookings we offer a full refund on cancellations up to 30 days prior to the scheduled recording session. In case you request to cancel fewer than 30 days prior to the scheduled recording, we offer a voucher equaling the value of the scheduled recording session.

Frequently asked questions

How can you pay your musicians well if I only pay $99 per month?

We are a high-growth music technology startup, mostly all musicians ourselves, and we are committed to creating a music industry that works for everyone. We are creating stable jobs, part-time and full-time, for musicians in an industry where stable jobs rarely exist; only gigs do. We partner with musicians globally and the compensation we offer varies according to the local cost of living, demand and seniority of the individual musician. For example, our part-time salaries for musicians in the US currently range from $1,500 to $2,000 per month ($48,000 full-time equivalent).

We pride ourselves on paying above and beyond union rates, as well as above the average salary of the musicians' countries of residence. Because our musicians are employed on a part time or full time basis, it means that they can focus on what they do best: playing and recording music for you. That means they don't spend time doing things like marketing or even commuting, and it's also the reason why we can charge just $99 for the standard musiversal subscription!

What's included in my 5 day free trial?

With the 5 day free trial you can book as many sessions as your plan allows for, with all of our session musicians and you can invite as many people along to your livestream sessions as you wish. Our mission is to empower music creators to make more music, whether you're on a free trial or fully subscribed.

The intention with the free trial is give you a taste of what value we're providing, with enough time to experience the recording sessions in order to empower you in your decision to subscribe or not.

What happens when my free trial ends?

When your 5 day free trial is over, you'll be automatically registered into the paid subscription, which costs $99 per month (this is a limited time offer and we'll be increasing the price of the subscription to $199 next year). You will automatically be charged $99 and payments will be charged monthly thereafter.

If you do not wish to register for the paid subscription, you may cancel during your free trial by contacting us by email at, or by instant chat. If you cancel your membership during the free trial, you will not be registered for the paid subscription and therefore you will not be charged when your free trial is over. Upon canceling during the free trial, any sessions you've booked will be canceled.

What's included in the monthly subscription?

The moment you subscribe, you'll be able to book recording sessions with all of of our session musicians. That's right - unrestricted access, no limits.

Our mission is making music production 10x cheaper and easier, thus empowering music creators to make more music. We want to help you turn your unrealised tracks into the realest, best music you've ever produced.

Once you're subscribed, you can start booking in sessions and start recording, just as you did in your free trial. You can also invite as many friends, family, colleagues and clients to join your recording sessions as well, so they can watch the magic happen and follow your music journey.

It's a monthly rolling subscription, which means you're not locked in to a yearly contract and you can cancel at any time.

What pricing tiers do you offer?

Just $49 / mo for 2 sessions, $99 for 5 sessions and $189 for 10.

Which payment options do you accept?

We accept payments from PayPal as well as STRIPE, which accepts payments from Visa (Debit/Credit), MasterCard, American Express and Apple Pay.

How can I cancel my subscription?

To cancel, please contact us. You can do this by sending us an email at or talking to us via the instant chat.

What happens when I cancel my subscription?

Your subscription will still be valid until the end of your monthly subscription period. That means your upcoming sessions will still be booked in, and you can still book new sessions until the end of your subscription month. After your subscription month expires, you will no longer be able to book recording sessions and any sessions scheduled beyond your subscription end date will be canceled.

If you change your mind after you've contacted us requesting to cancel, and instead wish to keep your subscription, just let us know and we'll resume it for you.

What gear do the session musicians have?

Every session musician has a professional home studio setup, with world-class instruments and industry standard equipment. You can find each musician's selection of instruments and gear list on their profile.

What's the quality of the session musicians like?

Ah, they're so awful it'll make your ears bleed!

That's a joke. We've spent a lot of time with music scouts in capital cities across the globe, who know the local market inside-out. They've sent us the top 1% of their list, and we've gone one step further by putting every musician through a thorough and selective testing process, and only accepting the very best.

Our criteria for musicians includes being incredible musicians, competent technicians, having a top-tier professional home recording studio, being brilliant communicators and possessing the ability to operate with integrity and authenticity.

So don't worry, you're in very safe hands. But we'll let the quality of your received music files speak to that!

What availability do the musicians have?

Our session musicians are typically available for recording sessions any time between 11am and 8pm (BST) on weekdays. However, individual musician schedules may vary. You can find our musicians' schedules by visiting their profiles and starting the booking process to view their full availability calendars.

When is the earliest I can book in a session?

You can book recording sessions 36 hours ahead of time. So if it's Monday 9am, the earliest session you can book is Tuesday 9pm.

Bear in mind that we request you submit your pre-session info & files at least 24 hours before the session, so do allow enough time to do this.

Remember that we'll send you your session streaming links 24 hours ahead of the session, so you can share the links with your friends, family and clients and give them enough time to plan ahead, and join you for the magic.

How far in advance can I book in a session?

You can book sessions up to one month in advance.

What is a 'session' and how do sessions work?

Musiversal provides remote recording sessions which are delivered by our employed session musicians. Every session is held over livestream, using Zoom for the visual feed and Audio Movers for a high quality audio feed. Every session is 30 minutes long, which we've found is plenty of time to record 2-3 full takes of a typical 3 minute song.

The way it works is simple: all you have to do is choose the instrument you'd like recorded on your track, then select one of our musicians to deliver the session.

Once you've scheduled in the session date/time, we'll request for you to provide some information about your track, as well as to send us your music files. You'll receive the video and audio livestream links 24 hours before your session is due to begin, so that you have enough time to invite your friends and colleagues to join the livestream.

During the session, you'll be able to meet and chat to the musician, direct the recording and do a couple of full takes, as well as any overdubs if time allows. You'll receive all of the files directly in your own Google Drive folder (and notified about this by email) no later than 24 hours after the session.

If you didn't have enough time to record all the takes you needed, your unlimited subscription means that you can book in another session whenever you're ready.

How long are the sessions?

Every session is 30 minutes long, which we've found is plenty of time to record 2-3 full takes of a typical 3 minutes song. There'll also be time at the start to get acquainted with the musician, and time to wrap up at the end.

Where do the sessions take place?

Every session is held remotely over livestream. Of course, we understand that nothing beats the real experience of being in the studio. But we've done our absolute best to make sure that your experience is as close to that as it possibly can be, and it's definitely the safest way to operate during the pandemic. Our employed session musicians have a full, professional recording set up in their home studios, and we use the best quality video and audio streams out there.

With your subscription, you can invite your friends, colleagues and clients to join the recording session as well! Everything combined, our subscribers have said that the remote sessions are not only safe (a must-have during these times) but that the experience is just like being right there in the studio.

How many sessions can I book every month?

Unlimited. Sounds ridiculous, but it's true. Book as many recording sessions until you're heart's content, and your music fully realized!

Can I book e.g. 20 sessions with any given musician?

Yes. You can book as many remote sessions with our musicians as you wish. You can even book sessions with multiple musicians at the same time! We really mean it when we say unlimited.

How far along in my track do I need to be before booking a session?

You can book a session no matter what stage you're at with your track. It can even just be an idea or a simple voice recording. Our musicians will help take your idea and turn it into a reality.

What happens after I book a session?

We’ll request more info about your track, such as the title, bpm and a reference track. We’ll also provide you with a link where you can send us your music files, which you'll need to send us at least 24 hours ahead of the session. Then, 24 hours before your session, we'll send you the livestream links - which you can forward on to any guests who you'd like to attend.

What do you need to know about my track ahead of a recording session?

When you book, we'll ask you to provide a few details about your track as well as request your music files. Specifically, we'll ask about the style of your piece, for a reference track and other details like the length, settings (bit depth/ sample rate) and BPM, if you have them. In addition to any files you might have of your current track, this is everything we need to know in order for our session musicians to fully prepare for your recording session.

What format do I need to send my music files?

We accept WAV, AIFF or MP3 files. Please supply us with clearly named stems. You will need to provide multi-tracks that are consolidated or bounced from the start point of your song (bar 1 beat 1 or start time code). All files must be of the same duration, sample rate and bit depth.

Do I need to install any software to join the sessions?

All you need is Zoom (to join the video live stream during your session) and a good internet connection. You can download and install Zoom on

What's the sound quality like during my session?

You will be able to listen to the high quality audio feed directly from the artist’s DAW. It’s like you’re right there in the studio - no sound compromise! We currently use AudioMovers software, which is well-recognized and respected in the industry. To access the audio feed, you just need to click the link we send you, and it'll open up directly in your browser.

How many people can join my session and how do I invite them?

You can invite an unlimited number of guests to join your live recording sessions! We'll send you the session links 24 hours before it starts, which will include a Zoom link for the video feed and an Audiomovers link for the audio feed. So, your guests will need to have Zoom downloaded to attend the session (the audio link simply opens up in a web browser). We recommend that you and your guests join at least 5 minutes before the session is due to begin, to mitigate against any technical problems and to ensure that your session goes smoothly without any undesirable interruptions.

If you know that more than 20 people will be joining your session, please let us know with plenty of notice, because we'll need to set up a private streaming session on YouTube (so as to not impact the audio quality of your stream).

Is it appropriate to invite my client for the live stream session?

We believe in and recommend keeping clients informed with work in progress, similarly to David Heinemeier Hansson and Jason Fried' recommendations (2013 - Remote, Office not required). That sharing work in progress only strengthens the shared feeling of ownership and fosters a better collaboration.

That said, it still depends on your working relationship and your way of doing business. Our musicians are top professionals and you can count on us delivering on our end.

With the subscription, you can invite unlimited guests to your sessions. If you think that more than 20 people will attend, please let us know, because we'll need to create a private streaming link for you on YouTube.

Can I take screenshots during the sessions, or record them?

You may, and we recommend that you do! Every recording session is a really cool experience. Your music is being realised in front of your eyes, and played by incredible musicians. So, feel free to share any screenshots and recordings on your social media. If you tag us @wearemusiveral, we'll reshare to our own following and help grow your audience even further.

What happens if I am late for my session?

We strongly recommend that you do your upmost to be on time for sessions, ideally joining the Zoom and Audio links at least 5 minutes before you're due to begin. In the event that you're late, your session musician will have already started recording on your track. Their schedules are tight and we want to ensure we're providing maximum value for you, using your scheduled time to the full, whether you're present or not.

How can I reschedule or cancel my upcoming bookings?

Yes. If you'd like to reschedule or cancel your upcoming session, please let us know at least 24 hours before the session, by contacting us at, or by instant chat. If you do not inform us at least 24 hours before the session, we will assume that your session is going ahead as planned.

What do I receive after my session and when do I receive it?

After your recording session, we'll send you stems of every recorded take in WAV or AIFF format (whichever you prefer). You'll receive all of your files directly to your email inbox, via Google Drive, no later than 24 hours after your session.

Do I keep audio rights ownership of my tracks? What about synchronization to film?

Yes, you keep ownership of all your rights. Both copyright and recording rights are yours perpetually and worldwide. All Musiversal recordings are 100% buyouts.

You have permission to use the recordings delivered by Musiversal for commercial purposes without paying additional fees or royalties.
